SHOW DESCRIPTION
An exploration of exactly what it means to be a villain in this world. From ancient times to Shakespeare, until this very moment, society has always been able to find its "villain". But can anyone absolutely define what it means to be a villain? (Other than Webster, and we'll get to that later...) What does it take for an individual to be considered as such? Do you have to be a murderer? Or is it a little white lie to get you out of going to dinner with that other annoying couple...? What constitutes villainy?
We will be taking a look into the villains that have truly been able to survive the test of time. Putting some of Shakespeare's most complex and interesting characters on stage to take a look into what this contemporary society deems evil... and what it might not...
ARTIST/COMPANY BIOGRAPHY
Three slightly imbalanced individuals formed This Ain’t Real Theatre Co. in early 2008. Bill Doan, Justin Baldwin, and last and least Alex Homer. This Ain't Real produced its first show at the 2008 Cincinnati Fringe Festival called Southwest Ohio Society of Badasses written by Bill Doan (founding member). This Ain't Real enjoys working on brand spanking new material, but at the same time putting a new twist on some of the classics when the need arises...
Villainy actually came about before the initial talks for Southwest . . . Badasses last summer, but was put on the back burner for a bit. Villainy was originally an idea for a One-man show for Justin's senior project at Miami University (OH), but was put on hold for Southwest . . . Badasses. A professor of his told him that he was never be able to play the villain because he was too teddy bearish. So after spending his second summer at Kentucky Shakespeare Festival, and working with the guys at Shakespeare Behind Bars, he went to work on making a script.
