This is No Ordinary Life!
Exhale Dance Tribe
Unraveling life and relationships through the universal language of dance.
SHOW DESCRIPTION
Exhale Dance Tribe presents This is No Ordinary Life!, an eclectic compilation of choreographic works by dance architects Missy Lay Zimmer and Andrew Hubbard. This is No Ordinary Life! is a kaleidoscope look at the human condition, exploring relationships and emotional responses. The Tribe members put poetry in motion as they interpret raw emotions solicited from everyday life. Each piece is it's own interpretation of an emotional response, including works such as The Ravaged Bridegroom, a negotiation between a woman and her masculinity, and Through Your Eyes, the story of a young woman witnessing self illumination through another's eyes. This collection is a must see!
ARTIST/COMPANY BIOGRAPHY
Exhale Dance Tribe is a contemporary jazz troupe comprised of Cincinnati-based performing artists and dance educators. Founded in 2000 by Andrew Hubbard and Missy Lay Zimmer, their programs, performances, and original choreographies speak to the region's need for expressionistic and multi-lingual dance rooted in rhythmic language and storytelling. The Broadway veterans, who met while performing in CATS, are committed to drawing out the artistic souls of performers and audiences alike, daring to explore individuality and nonconformity. Exhale has made numerous appearances in the Tri-State area as well as in New York City, including the Fringe Festival, Aronoff Center for the Arts, Know Theatre, Cincinnati Shakespeare Company and many more! Missy Lay Zimmer also won a 2007 CEA Critical Achievement Award for Outstanding Choreography in a theater production for Know Theatre's "A Christmas Yet To Come". Most recently, Exhale was noted in the January 2008 edition of Dance Magazine as one of "25 to Watch in 2008"!
