Love of Last Resort

Ragged Blade Productions

Tropical island gay romance, with help from Martha Stewart Magazine.

SHOW DESCRIPTION

Josh has been stranded on a tropical island for three years, when up washes Matt, who escaped from an oversexed pleasure cruise. Conveniently, they're both gay! Josh survives and keeps his sanity by eating a lot of plantains, living his life as four different television personalities, changing his name whenever he feels like it, and following the directions in Martha Stewart Magazine to make everything he needs. Oh, and he wants to take Matt to bed, but Matt's too hung up on someone from his past, and he doesn't like the idea that Josh's feelings might not be real, that he might be a Love of Last Resort. But then, if he can't love Josh, he can't love at all. Join us for action, adventure, an interview with a porn star, a gay soap opera, and fun with a pair of handcuffs. And dress light - it's the South Pacific!

ARTIST/COMPANY BIOGRAPHY

Ragged Blade, based in St. Louis, MO, appeared at the 2007 Cincinnati Fringe Festival with Woof! The Road Show. They have toured several shows nationwide and made three appearances at the Columbus National Gay & Lesbian Theater Festival; the company received the Director’s Award for Outstanding Service at the final festival in 2006. The company largely performs original work by co-founder Jerry Rabushka, who has written several award-winning plays. More recently the company has been playing original music both at home and on the road with recent appearances in Austin and Oklahoma City. Love of Last Resort features Zach Jett, who appeared in last year’s Woof! and has toured extensively with Ragged Blade, and Scott Nicholas Mueller, who has performed with the company as far back as 1999.

PREVIOUS FRINGES

Not "fringes" but The Columbus National Gay & Lesbian Theater Festival in 2002, 2004, 2006, and a Spotlight On festival in New York in 2005. I've toured nationally, but mostly on my own as opposed to part of a festival.

'AND THE FRINGIEST PART IS ...'

Love of Last Resort has changed a lot over its performance history, this incarnation emphasizes comedy and music, with live music accompanying most of the show. It’s got some quick-time character changes, and it makes a hero out of Martha Stewart! You don’t have to be gay to enjoy it!
