Incredulity
The Incredulities
From Chicago, IL.
SHOW DESCRIPTION
Incredulity is an improv show that will be done for the first and last time each night it is performed. Don't believe us; don't be so incredulous. We'll take suggestions from our audiences, put them into our random device, and create the show on the spot. Wherever the wheel spins, the dart lands, or whatever other random act of nonsense occurs will determine what happens in our show. Failure is a distinct possibility. Improvisers thrive on the risk and tension that comes from the presence of failure. You won't believe what's happening right in front of your eyes. Of course you won't, that’s the name of the show.
ARTIST/COMPANY BIOGRAPHY
This show has no past, a hazy future, and only exists in the present. We are a crew of improvisers who have come together and developed Incredulity specifically for the Fringe. The Incredulities have a diverse improv background. Some of the members have trained in Detroit, Chicago, and Los Angeles. Some have performed with Second City, The Smarty Pants Theater Company, and The Wilhelm Scream. Some are afraid of the dark.
The show will be inspired by long form improv. What is long form improv? Good question, I'm glad you asked. In long form, the performers base more scenes from fewer suggestions. As compared to short form improv, where the improvisers will get suggestions for every scene. Thank (_____) we cleared that up.
'AND THE FRINGIEST PART IS ...'
There is tension in every improv show. The fact is, we don't know what we are going to do each night. Every aspect of the show will be made up on the spot. As a result, failure is a distinct possibility. The audience is there to inspire us, watch us rise to the challenge, and enjoy the ride. Laughter is a result of the release of the tension being created. The higher and lower the peaks and valleys are, then the deeper the laughs will be. Risk is where the show begins.
