DLF Productions & Company

SHOW DESCRIPTION

Free At Last and Confused in the Land of Good & Evil is a culmination of 3 different pieces, and is a highly creative form of expression. It uses dance, song, video, spoken word and various audio clips to acquaint the audience with the political inequities, social unrest, environmental destruction and spiritual struggles of our time. The performance incorporates, Hip-Hop, Modern, Jazz and African dance set against a backdrop of stark disturbing footage, imperative voiceovers and profound impassioned music. The piece will leave the audience with the questions of “How did we get to this point? And where do we go from here?”

ARTIST/COMPANY BIOGRAPHY

Diana L. Ford of DLF Productions and Company formed this performance group. She is a Choreographer, Dancer and Media Entrepreneur. Ms. Ford choreographed the thought provoking 20-minute piece called Free at Last?!? and Part 2 of that called Land of Confusion . . . which included different forms of edited audio and video. Free at Last?!? premiered at the Performance and Time Arts Series at the Contemporary Dance Theater (CDT) in March 2006, and Land of Confusion . . . debuted at The Madisonville Arts Center (M.A.C.) in May 2008. The Good, The Bad and The Evil - Angels vs. Demons is just a continuation of these previous pieces of work. They are all connected, and they have their own significant poignant themes.

Diana also directed, produced and choreographed her own dance, poetry and music production in 2007 called The Woman Within (Letting Go . . .) for the 20/20 Festival where they performed at CDT and The Carnegie in Covington, KY.

'AND THE FRINGIEST PART IS ...'

What makes Free At Last and Confused in the Land of Good & Evil so exciting is that I try to approach things from a different angle. I am doing a piece that makes a meaningful and powerful statement. It is relevant to the times working from the past to the present and onto the future of humankind. This show is a very informative work of art. It is a unique way of looking at some hard-hitting issues that many people aren't comfortable with or try to avoid. I feel these conglomerate of ideas will touch everyone who sees it in one way or another, and will perhaps influence how they examine things. The time is now for human beings to open their eyes and make a difference.
