Since 1869 the Art Academy has offered educational
programs to train professional visual artists, now the
undergraduate program leading to the Bachelor of Fine Arts
degree and the graduate program for art teachers leading
to the Master of Arts in Art Education. These programs are

Contemporary Arts Center

School for the Creative and Performing Arts

The School for Creative and Performing Arts was established
in 1973 in the historic former Woodward High School,
built in 1906. It strives to promote academic and artistic
excellence within each student while preparing students
for post-secondary success in their selected artistic
and academic fields. The SCPA offers comprehensive
studies in the arts, including creative writing, dance, drama,
instrumental music, technical theater, visual arts, and
vocal music as well as full college-preparatory curriculum
for grades 4 through 12, plus challenging work in language
arts, foreign language, mathematics, science, and social
