FRINGE FACT: Film Fringe is huckin' fott. Just like Visual Fringe.

Film Fringe

A note from Chris Strobel, Film Fringe Chair

Putting together the Film Fringe for 2008 is unlike anything I’ve ever done before. We have short films from across the continent, including many world premieres. We have documentaries. We have fantasies. We have a dance piece. And a thriller or two. In short, I think we have something for just about everyone, but not everything is for everyone. Each of the Film Fringe panelists had films that they loved not selected. And each has a film or two that they didn’t like sneak onto the program.

But that’s part of what makes the Film Fringe work – the filmmakers are expressing themselves in new and unique ways, and these ways meld well with the overall Cincinnati Fringe Festival. As the cost of filmmaking – OK, digital cinema – goes down and the quality goes up we’re seeing more highquality, personal, quirky stories put on the screen. And that is the Cincinnati Film Fringe.

Selection Committee Members: Tim Swallow (Cincinnati World Cinema), Jacquelyn Sommer (Curator of Enjoy the Arts/START Gallery), Sarah Mahle (Founder, Underneath Cincinnati; Director of Education at Media Bridges), Bill Poff (Independent Filmmaker and Media Specialist)

Film Fringe is sponsored by Mark and Linda Bowen.
