2011 Film Fringe!
Fringe Documented
This year’s film showcase shifts focus a bit. The past few years we have explored what it means to be on the fringe of film through a wide variety of viewpoints from around the world. This year, we’re looking at what it means to bring the fringe to Cincinnati—specifically, we want to know what’s it like to stage a Cincinnati Fringe theatrical experience. To bring this to life we have commissioned (OK, full disclosure...no money changed hands...we asked; they said yes) a select group of filmmakers to document the experience of some Fringe performances. How this documentation turns out...well, we really don’t know how it turns out since the films won’t be complete until the performances debut during the Fringe. But with these filmmakers and performers the one thing we’re confident about is that we’ll see some of just what makes the Fringe...fringy.

The Body Speaks: Captured
The Body Speaks is a unique collaboration for the 2011 Festival. Four components in this collaboration – a dance, performance, film, and visual art piece have come together based on the work of Sean Dunn’s Calligraphic Photography.
What’s behind door number seven?
From: Golden Brown Enterprises
The Body Speaks: Captured is the Cincinnati Fringe Festival debut for Golden Brown Enterprises. Through the use of digital film and shadow puppetry, a house will be transformed into a living organism: one of memories, desires, and sexuality. Inspired by seven works by photographer Sean Dunn, the viewer takes a voyeuristic look at what secrets hide behind the curtains and closet doors. Part of The Body Speaks: seven photos inspire dance, film and theatre. Explore three independent interpretations and one unique collaboration.
See The Body Speaks: Movement, The Body Speaks: Scripted, and The Body Speaks: Calligraphic Photography.
