'UnMasked'

Curt... from Detox

'Raw', 'Sexy', 'Funny', all in one show. A Must See!

SHOW DESCRIPTION

Rather it be the mask we wear for work, for our spouse or for the stranger we pass on the street asking for money...we all have at least one. Some masks are made up of the lies we tell ourselves to conceal our pain, our past and our prejudices and some of us wear them so well that the lies, over time, become our lives. In this gripping one man performance, Curtis Drake Shepard definately brings it like no other. "...not understanding, but acceptance, as I begin to Unmask!"

ARTIST/COMPANY BIOGRAPHY

If you know me then you’ll know that I hate bios. Who really remembers me from the Arts Consortium in the late ‘80’s, or from Charlie and The Chocolate Factory with the Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati with Jack Louiso? Who remembers the years I toured with Theatre IV playing Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., or my roles as Harriet Tubman or Arthur Ashe, in Walking the Line? Or my time with the Ensemble Theatre of Cincinnati, Queen City Off Broadway, The Artists Warehouse. Who would remember the cold, frigid temperatures where I performed in the outdoor, interactive, Sharon Woods’ production of Runaway Slave or the Cincinnati Museum Center’s Cincinnati 28 and the dozens of commercials I did with Heyman or Ashley Talent? (Well, Peter might remember but that’s not the point). The point is: I’ve learned from working within the framework of these fabulous venues in Cincinnati, is that it doesn’t matter if I start out on one of the worst corners of the city with only a few friends in the audience, I’ve got potential and it will be Unmasked.

PREVIOUS FRINGES

Fringe virgin.

'AND THE FRINGIEST PART IS ...'

If not for the 'independence' of the Fringe and Know Theatre, it would go unnoticed. Too edgy for local, mainstream theatre. "LOT-B" (Live and Outside The Box) of corporate, conservative, funding.
