Letters at Large

R.S.T.L.N.E. productions

Comedic letters sent to businesses and the funny replies received.

SHOW DESCRIPTION

Letters At Large is a showcase of comedic letters written to business over the past 10 years. Over 800 letters have been written outlining fictitious stories or events in an attempt to elicit a playful response from the targeted company/organization. Examples: asking Heineken to help cheat in a drinking contest, telling the South Carolina Historical Society their state’s “real origin”, informing Camel Cigarettes about a bazaar incident with their cigarettes, mailing capliners to coca-cola claiming to have won the chance to “Try Again”, writing as a Korean child in Korea (letters actually sent from Korea) depicting an unusual celebrity encounter. The letters and responses are all real and are projected behind the performer during the performance via digital projector. The mounds of free items received are also revealed throughout the act. Letters At Large "turns 51 cents [postage] into theatrical gold" -- Kevin Prokash, Winnipeg Free Press, 2005.

ARTIST/COMPANY BIOGRAPHY

Jeff Sinclair has been a Canadian writer, improvisor, and comedian for well over ten years. During that time, he has traveled all over Canada and the United States performing at various improv and fringe festivals. He has even performed as far away as Asia. He has also trained and performed with with various notable improv and comedy schools as Unexpected Productions in Seattle, Improv Olympic in Chicago, and Second City in Chicago. Letters At Large has been his labour of love for the past 10 years and he is incredibly happy to be bringing it to Cincinnati.

PREVIOUS FRINGES

Edmonton Fringe Festival 2 times (Letter Show, Theatresports)
Victoria Fringe 2 times (Letter Show, Improv)
Toronto Fringe 3 times (improv, sketch comedy)

'AND THE FRINGIEST PART IS ...'

Well, the show takes a slowly dying art such as letter writing and promotes it in a comedic light. It is truly a unique type of show that (to our knowledge) has never been done, and is not currently being done elsewhere on stage.
